i am

This piece was featured in the fourth issue of the online magazine Creative Treatment which had the theme Identity. My intention was to show the various ways in which a person can be categorized. It is interesting to me how we allow ourselves to be compartmentalized by a specific detail of our lives, as well as how we arrange and group other people according to their various, almost meaningless, details. It was just as interesting to me, to consider who knows me, specifically, by what details. To one person I am my age, to another I am my relationship to my daughter or brother, to another I am a gender, and to another I am a representative of where I live.
